ALQHA Recreational Riding

Join the Alabama Quarter Horse Association (ALQHA) and qualify for a year end award by logging the most hours riding on a Registered American Quarter Horse or an All Breed horse.  Any organized ride qualifies with proof of registration and participation in all ALQHA Trail Rides.

We must have a copy of you hours in hand by December 15, 2014.

AQHA members who are also enrolled in AQHA's Horseback Riding Program will continue to earn double hours on all AQHA-approved trail rides.

Qualifications and Rules for the Quarter Horse Division:

Once you enroll in the Quarter Horse division, sponsored by SmartPak and Professional's Choice, simply log the hours you spend riding your American Quarter Horse. As you move up through 15 thresholds - from 25 to 5,000 hours - you earn attractive awards and the opportunity to purchase jackets reserved exclusively for higher-hour award recipients. The awards series culminates at 5,000 hours with a Montana Silversmiths silver buckle customized for the Horseback Riding Program.

  • Must maintain AQHA, AQHYA or Amateur membership.
  • One-time $35 enrollment fee.
  • Log hours riding or pleasure driving American Quarter Horses on official log sheets.
  • May ride more than one American Quarter Horse; rider does not have to own the horse.
  • The horse(s) must be registered with AQHA. The registered name and registration number of the horse must be listed on the log sheet.
  • Separate log sheets must be used for each horse, and a minimum of one log sheet must be submitted annually to maintain enrollment in the program.
  • Please remember that the deadline to turn in your hourly log sheets is December 31 of the current year.
  • One AQHA membership is equal to one enrollment. If both members of a joint account would like to participate in the Horseback Riding Program, one of the two will need a separate membership.
  • AQHA reserves the right to make any changes in the awards that are given. Awards are not retroactive. Some award item patterns and colors may vary.
