October/November 2011Hello Amateurs! My goodness Fall brings so much activity! What a great time we had at the Camellia Classic earlier this month, and then comes the Congress, World Show and not to mention ALQHA’s all Novice show (Sooo much fun!) and the Fall Classic with its NEW FORMAT of showing to all the judges at one time. If you haven’t noticed, there is also an introductory show December 3rd in Dothan. YOUR OPINION MATTERS – Voice it!!! This time of month also steers our attention to planning for 2012. There is so much to do. The current Amateur Board of Directors has already begun planning the 2012 Memorial Day show. Under consideration is a change from the traditional split combined format to the new format of showing to all three judges at once. Given the size of our show last year, we have received many, many requests to change to this format. We will also see how the format goes in Rainsville over Thanksgiving weekend next month. If you have an opinion regarding this change, or any other suggestion for the 2012 Memorial Day show, please share it with your board. We are also planning for the awards you will win at the annual awards banquet. We would love to hear suggestions as to what the individual class and all around prizes should be. We work hard showing all year, and the year end prizes should reflect the accomplishments! Let us know what you think. Finally, it’s time to think about the 2012 leadership for the Amateurs. Unlike the Open Board, as you know, the amateurs elect all officers and board members annually for a 1 year term. How long has it been since YOU have served on your board? What new ideas can you bring to the table? Please consider giving back to your amateur association. See you down the rail!! Rachel
