Dear Youth,

Hello everyone! Spring is here, and showing season is busier than ever! Having said that, we just completed our youth show. It was a lots of fun, and we had lots of participation!

There are a lot of people our youth association owes a thanks to. Our sponsors were David Hare, PB&J Tack, Large Animal Services, Tim and Lynn Reed, Cathy Herrin, Jack and Jan Hernig, Larry Strickland, Steve Cardwell, Anne Kay, Phenix, Serum, and Western Store, Lamar Bridges, and Mindy Reynolds. Without these people, our show would have been a mess!

I would like to extend an extra thanks to Tim and Lynn Reed. Mrs. Lynn is not only a supportive horse show mom, but she is also our youth advisor who has to keep all the crazy youth (including me) under control and working! Mr. Tim worked endlessly all weekend to keep everything running smoothly and to make sure all the youth helped to keep all the exhibitors happy. Thank you sooo much for the help and support!

Friday was a busy day for the youth! As a fundraiser for the youth, we not only delivered bedding, we’d dump it for $2 a stall. It was a lot of work, especially for those of us who live in the considerably cooler northern part of Alabama! Another thanks to those who used our service!  Saturday night was the much-anticipated versatility. Miss Anne Kay and Mr. Steve Cardwell donated their time to judge our event. We had fun switching from showmanship to pleasure to horsemanship to poles with 5 minutes in between! Tylan Thompson was our champion. Congratulations!  We all rose early Sunday morning for our pancake breakfast. The youth and parents provided the cooking, and let me tell ya, we can make a mean pancake! It was all donations, and it went over really well! Thanks to the “cooks” and the ones who enjoyed their breakfast!  Pat Kress proved her abilities as our show secretary yet again! Everything went smoothly and she had a lot to do with it!

We also had a raffle on our $125 Target tickets and a $50 gift certificate to Hilltop Restaurant. That also went very well, and thank you to all who bought them!

For all of those who came out to support our very appreciative youth, thank you!

The Y.E.S. conference and the Youth World Show are just around the corner. If you’re interested in the Y.E.S. conference, you’d like to know what goes on, give me a shout and I will gladly tell you about all the fun stuff we do! The Youth World’s theme is “on the move” this year. If you have any ideas that go along with the theme, PLEASE let me know! We’re also doing the boot and jeans contest this year as well. We need letters of intent if you are interested in showing at Youth World. Call Mrs. Lynn to get one. We need them A.S.A.P.!

Well, I think that’s about it! Give me a call, text or e-mail! Happy showing!

Yours,

Ariel Herrin
